TWST: What is Uni-Select? Mr. Landreville: Uni-Select is a distributor of automotive parts that
deals with the aftermarket. The aftermarket is basically the life cycle
of a vehicle that goes beyond the warranty period. Our network consists
of close to 40 distribution centers located throughout North America; 14
are located in Canada and the rest are in the US. We service a network
of jobbers and, in turn, these jobbers sell their parts to the corner
garages. So as a whole, Uni-Select is a North American organization,
dealing with three business units: Automotive Canada, Automotive USA,
and a little heavy-duty division called Palmar. Altogether, in fiscal
2005, we did about C$1.1 billion in sales in North America, and we had
about $39 million of profit. That's basically who we are. Our head
office is located in Boucherville, Quebec, and we have about 50 people
working there. The rest of our employees are basically operational
people at the business unit to service the independent jobbers. In our
network, we have around 360,000 stock keeping units to maintain and
repair the North American fleet, be it for consumers or be it for the
heavy duty and commercial business. TWST: I believe that you made a very large acquisition about two years
ago that substantially enhanced your business. Mr. Landreville: That is correct. We acquired a company called MAWDI on
November 1, 2004, which permitted us to become number eight in the US.
Since then, we have pursued our consolidation and tried to increase our
footprint in the US. We're the number two in Canada and number eight in
the US.
