TWST: What is Lindsay Manufacturing?Mr. Downing: Lindsay Manufacturing is an irrigation and plant nutrient company that is focused on preserving the precious fresh water natural resources that we have by using very efficient irrigation methods to grow crops. Lindsay is a 50-year-old company headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska. We have manufacturing sites in Lindsay, Nebraska, Brazil, South Africa and in France. We also have a representative office in Beijing China, and contract manufacturing capacity in China today. We also own one dealership in Pasco, Washington.
TWST: What does the competitive landscape look like in this marketplace?
Mr. Downing: The irrigation market is about a $4 billion market. Half of
that is agriculture, and the other half is lawn and garden (which
includes golf courses). Of that agricultural market, approximately $700
million is mechanized irrigation, which is the segment that we
participate in. We have one worldwide competitor, and there are other
local players in each of the markets in which we participate.
