Mr. Jenkins: The company was started in Calgary, Alberta, back in 1996 by Peter Paulson and James Paulson when they decided that there was a need for a non-destructive testing method for post-tensioned structures. These structures would be buildings, suspension bridges, and cable- stayed bridges, and they developed a technology called SoundPrint, which served as our main technology up until the last two or three years, when we began developing and expanding our research and development activities. We developed products such as P-Wave, an electromagnetic inspection technology for water and wastewater pipelines; PureActiv, a security surveillance software using pattern recognition and sophisticated digital pattern recognition; and CableScan and TP-1, new technologies for bridges and pipelines as well. Our biggest opportunities as we are moving forward are in the water and wastewater pipeline markets around the world.
TWST: Would you need a new technology to deal with them?
Mr. Jenkins: We are developing a couple of new technologies that would
be complementary to our current technologies, but the SoundPrint
technology works remarkably well for owners of large diameter water and
wastewater pipelines to detect failures or potential failures in their
pipelines while they are still in service.
