TWST: We'd like to begin with a brief historical sketch of the company
and a picture of the things you are doing at the present time.
Mr. Clarke: The company is involved in two lines of business. It started
in 1998 with the decision by the International Maritime Organization to
mandate that all ships will have to carry a Voyage Data Recorder with
various implementation data. The Voyage Data Recorder is the equivalent
to an aircraft black box, only for ships. So it's as a result of that
that the company started, and we've expanded into radar imaging, which
is used to pick up small objects in the water and to enhances a ship's
radar to be able to pick up fast-moving vessels. And we've also expanded
into the offshore oil and gas, designing and supplying control systems
solutions for offshore platforms. These systems are like the bridge of a
ship and fundamentally they use them to operate the whole facility.
TWST: What kind of competition do you have?
Mr. Clarke: Each business segment would have its own type of
competition. But we consider ourselves the technology leader in both
radar imaging and the Voyage Data Recorder. The oil and gas business is
a relatively new area we've been expanding in and we are having
tremendous success.
