TWST: What is Pemstar? Ms. Our company designs and manufactures products for major multi-
national OEMs in the Americas, Asia and Europe. Our key business model
revolves around assisting our customers in designing a product,
designing the processes and test systems, manufacturing the product and
fulfilling the product. And in our case, we do it in all the major
geographies around the world and do it with many of the major OEMs
around the world. Our vision is 'Concept to customer solutions' which
embodies a set of services, which start with designing our customer's
product, and then launching it in the geography required by the
customer, and manufacturing and fulfilling it on an ongoing basis. TWST: What are the dynamics of that customer space in the market today? Mr. Berning: Part of that I'll answer in the context of our history and
how Pemstar and our industry has changed in the last 10 years. Pemstar
is 12 years old. Our initial launch team came from an IBM facility in
Rochester, Minnesota. Our key focus from day one has been on product
design, automation design, test and manufacturing. These core
competencies match our greatest customer needs as we see it at Pemstar
and within the industry. We have gone through a transition in the last
several years as the outsourcing model continues to grow. The
outsourcing model started in computing and communications markets and
now is moving into the industrial, medical, military/aerospace markets.
This transition matches the strength of Pemstar. Our focus with our
customers is our ability to do complex systems design and manufacturing,
also referred to as high complexity, high mix. That strength has served
us well, particularly as we have seen increased outsourcing
opportunities in the industrial, medical, and military/aerospace
markets.
