Mr. Schecter: NMS Communications is a 20 plus year-old company in the telecommunications equipment business. For many of those years, we were engaged in delivering enabling technologies or component-level products to systems integrators, solution providers, and equipment OEMs, who build a pretty broad range of telecom solutions. Our focus over the last several years has been on solutions aimed primarily at wireless markets, and we are aiming at three segments where we think there are significant growth opportunities in the market and where we can create for ourselves a sustainable competitive advantage. One segment is in platform solutions aimed at media servers with applications. The second is in the area of managing the efficiency of transport in the radio access network part of an operator's network, and the third is with a suite of innovative applications for mobile operators to create content-based and call personalization services.
TWST: Who do you see as your customer or client and how is that
changing?
Mr. Schecter: Our customers are both the equipment providers and
solution providers who are selling to operators, as well as the
operators. We sell in a two-tiered model. We sell to the end customer,
which is typically a phone company. In some cases, it's a mobile virtual
network operator. We also go to market through other equipment providers
or systems integrators such as Ericsson or LogicaCMG, which provide our
solution as part of a larger set of solutions to the operator. But at
the end of the day, our customer is typically the phone company.
