TWST: Could you introduce us to your company along with a short history?
Mr. Dueber: Zinc Matrix Power is a developer of advanced rechargeable silver- zinc batteries for commercial and military electronics. The company was founded in late 1996. For the first nine years or so of its life, it was really focused on research and development of this particular technology. I joined the company as the CEO about a year ago with the specific charter to take the company's technology and commercialize it for the target markets of consumer electronics and military applications.

TWST: What is the technology behind Zinc Matrix's concept? Where does this concept fit within the evolving family of batteries?
Mr. Dueber: If you take a look at our particular technology, it is based on the chemical compounds of silver and zinc, which are the primary materials used in our electrodes. Batteries in general are named by their chemistry, such as lead acid batteries, nickel-cadmium, nickel metal hydride, and most recently lithium ion. All of these are rechargeable batteries as opposed to single use batteries, which are quite prevalent today. So our technology really capitalizes on the advantages that we see in silver-zinc. We see it as the next progression in the evolution of rechargeable battery technology. It certainly has the capability to deliver as much as twice the energy density or run time of a device as lithium ion today. And much like lithium ion was an improvement over preceding technologies like nickel-cadmium and nickel metal hydride, we see silver-zinc as the next improvement in rechargeable battery technology.
