Mr. Brandon: Domino's Pizza is one of the great brands of the world. We've been in existence for over 44 years. We're the number one pizza delivery company in the US. Our logo is very well respected and understood as symbolizing 'the pizza delivery expert.' We operate a business that now is in approximately 55 countries around the world. We sell over 1 million pizzas every night. We consist of about 145,000 team members around the world who work every night in stores that are rapidly approaching 7,800 in number. It's a fun business. It's a fun industry. It has been a very successful company, and I'm proud to be associated with it.
TWST: What have been the key elements in Domino's rise to dominance?
Mr. Brandon: It has been our experience, first here in the US and now as
we've rapidly expanded around the world, that consumers are living
lifestyles that are more stressed and more tightly managed in terms of
time and commitments. Most households are two wage earners who are
living very busy lives. At the same time, they are raising families, and
the decision about what to eat and when to eat it has become a more
complicated one. We've done research in the US that taught us that over
70% of US households don't know what they're going to have for dinner at
4:30 in the afternoon. That dynamic has really created a market need,
and the market need is for a brand like Domino's to provide a hot meal
replacement that can be consumed wherever it is most convenient for our
customers. Our ability to create a great-tasting product and have a
delivery system that allows us to safely and quickly get that hot meal
delivery wherever it is the consumer wants to enjoy it is truly the
magic of Domino's Pizza.
