Mr. Lowy: It is a broad space. We define ourselves as enterprise and infrastructure software specialists. Our current focus is on application performance and analytics.
TWST: Let's start with application performance. How did the space do in 2009?
Mr. Lowy: Probably the space was flabby in 2009, contracting some with the rest of the IT industry. I think it started to improve there, and the key driver is network complexity. As more and more organizations deploy virtualization technology, which is a cost-saving technology that allows them to consolidate their infrastructures, the complexity of the network rises and it becomes that much more important for the IT department to have visibility into the performance of their network, and even more so how the applications are performing in an increasingly virtualized environment. There are a number of companies that specialize in this area and others that are coming at it from other adjacent technologies that are starting to offer improved visibility to customers for their applications.
