Mr. Chanda: The companies I cover are Intel, Qualcomm, Broadcom, Marvell, NVIDIA, Atheros, Cavium, NetLogic, Silicon Labs, Power Integrations, Volterra and Monolithic Power Systems (MPWR). I cover semiconductor companies that sell into PCs, communications and consumer end markets. I don't cover commodity memory or discrete companies.
TWST: How did you pick these particular companies?
Mr. Chanda: I focused on companies where I thought there was a significant growth potential and strong product cycles over the next few years, which would allow them to outperform the semi cycle. I also try to look for companies that have franchise positions in their respective markets. For large companies, I looked at those who have franchise positions that also have interesting changes going on in their markets, like Intel and Qualcomm, where there is a battle in the tablet/smartbook and netbook markets due to convergence.
