Using a Long/Short Fund to Win by Not Losing

Greg Horn, Managing Partner and President, founded Persimmon Capital Management, LP in December of 1998 to provide investment-consulting services to family offices, high net worth families, foundations and endowments. In 1999, Mr. Horn also founded ADVISORport, Inc., now known as PNC Managed Investments Inc., a PNC Financial subsidiary. PNC Managed Investments provides technology and operational infrastructure outsourcing services to enterprise financial services companies, such as Charles Schwab, SunTrust and Nationwide. Assets under administration at PNC Managed Investments have grown from $400 million in 1999 to over $100 billion today. In 2011, in order to access and deliver long/short equity hedge fund strategies in a separately managed account to advisers, Mr. Horn co-founded AlphaHedge Capital Partners, LLC. Prior to the formation of Persimmon, Mr. Horn was the President and Co-Founder of Ashbridge Investment Management, Inc., where he developed all facets of the investment-consulting capacity for a family holding company. Assets under supervision reached nearly $1 billion by 1998. Prior to Ashbridge, Mr. Horn was a vice president of Mellon Bank, heading the personal and family division of Mellon Private Capital Management, the high net worth group within Mellon’s Trust Department. Prior to Mellon, Mr. Horn was employed at Mid-Atlantic Companies, where he headed the asset management group. Previous to Mid-Atlantic Companies, Mr. Horn was a vice president for the real estate investment-banking arm of American Express.
