Thomas Peterffy has been Chairman and CEO of Interactive Brokers Group, Inc., since its inception. Mr. Peterffy was born in Budapest in 1944. He attended The College of Surveying before immigrating to the United States in 1965. While continuing his studies at NYU, he worked as a computer programmer. In 1969, he became a vice president of Mocatta Metals Inc., where he created and managed computerized trading systems in the commodity markets. In 1977, he joined the American Stock Exchange as an independent floor trader and formed the company known today as Interactive Brokers Group LLC, which specializes in the building and deployment of automated trading and brokerage systems for professional traders and investors worldwide. He is widely considered a pioneer in the advancement of options markets and electronic trading. Profile
