ROBERT H. YOUNG is President, Chief Executive Officer and a member of the board
of directors of Central Vermont Public Service, Vermont's largest electric
utility, serving more than 159,000 customers. Mr. Young is also Chairman of the
board of directors of SmartEnergy Services, Inc., CVPS's energy services
subsidiary. Mr. Young joined Central Vermont Public Service as Vice President of
Finance and Administration in 1987. In 1988 he was promoted to Senior Vice
President of finance and administration and Chief Financial Officer, with
responsibility for the diverse Financial Administrative Activities of CVPS and
Connecticut Valley Electric Company. In 1993 Mr. Young was elected to the
position of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, assuming the
responsibilities for division operations, finance and administration, and the
legal department. In December 1995 he was elected President and Chief Executive
